Dicksons first started trading in 1929 in Manchester, founded by Charles Dickson. In 1981 the business moved to Wadebridge having been burnt down in the riots of 1981. The business was now being run by Charles Dickson’s son, Joe, and his grandson Phil Dickson. In 2009 Joe retired after more than 60 years in the hardware trade to be replaced by his daughter Pam. So Dicksons Home Hardware is certainly a family business.

The shop in Molesworth Street has been gradually extended to its present size to accommodate the vast and varied stock. The next phase of development is a proposed 24 sq meter extension which will enable us to reorganize the layout of the shop and introduce new lines.
In this modern world of large businesses and multiples we feel this family spirit is one of our main strengths. It means we care about our customers and our position in the Wadebridge community.
We have pride in the fact that our staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, offering easy to understand advice on all the goods we sell. Whether you're putting up shelves, painting and decorating, or just changing a tap washer, we can help.
Often our customers can be heard to say:
“What an alladins cave this is”
“Ive not been able to find this anywhere else”
“I wish we had a shop like this in our town”
“We always come here first because we know you will have it”
"This shop is like the Tardis !" |
